Banana Boat adds to CoolZone line

SHELTON, Conn. – Banana Boat has begun rolling out a pair of new products for its CoolZone line and unveiled a sponsorship with NASCAR and IndyCar auto racing teams.
The Energizer Personal Care sun care brand said this week that its new Banana Boat Sport Performance CoolZone continuous spray sunscreen and Banana Boat CoolZone After Sun Aloe Gel are now available at drug, supermarket and mass retailers in select markets and will be available nationally in April.
Targeted at the active outdoor enthusiast, Sport Performance CoolZone continuous spray sunscreen provides active UVA and UVB protection that instantly cools skin on contact, for a clean, refreshed feeling, according to the company. It sports a crisp, clean scent and is invisible and rub-free for easy application, as well as water-resistant for durable sun protection. The sunscreen comes in SPF 30 and SPF 50+ varieties.
Meanwhile, CoolZone After Sun Aloe Gel with Lidocaine is designed to provide cooling burn relief to refresh skin after a day in the sun.
Like all Banana Boat products, the new sunscreen underwent extensive testing in seven conditions — sun, pool water, ocean water, wind, heat up to 100 degrees, sweat and sand — to ensure broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection that won't break down, the company said.
Also this week, Banana Boat announced that it will sponsor the race cars of Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates, Jamie McMurray and Target Chip Ganassi Racing driver Dario Franchitti during the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup and Izod IndyCar Series racing seasons, respectively.
As part of the partnership, Banana Boat will host fan experiences trackside at key races, including Daytona 500, Talladega Superspeedway and Indianapolis 500. The sunscreen brand will provide fans with a break from the sun, offering quick relief and sun protection in its CoolZone Sunscreen Pit Stop, where they can receive a "cool-over" with the new sunscreen, play games and receive giveaway items.
The partnership also includes a new Banana Boat brand paint scheme on the No.1 Banana Boat Chevrolet, which makes its debut with McMurray behind the wheel at Pocono Raceway in June, along with associate placement on the car throughout 2012. Fans also can visit the Banana Boat CoolZone Facebook tab for access to content from McMurray, Franchitti and their pit crews.
