EyeScience unveils eye vitamin for diabetics
March 6th, 2012
COLUMBUS, Ohio – EyeScience Labs has developed Diabetic Vision Formula, a new eye vitamin for people with diabetes.
EyeScience said Tuesday that the new product is designed to help protect against potential vision problems related to diabetic retinopathy, a condition that affects about 4.1 million Americans and is cited as a chief cause of blindness for U.S. adults by the National Eye Institute, a division of the National Institutes of Health.
Early onset of diabetic retinopathy may show no symptoms or seem like blurry vision, according to EyeScience. Diabetic retinopathy may also result in cataracts or glaucoma.
"The Diabetic Vision Formula was formulated to help target the oxidative stress that can negatively impact the blood vessel system in the eyes for people that live with diabetes," stated Jeff Northup, president and chief executive officer of EyeScience Labs, which also makes EyeScience Macular Health Formula and EyeScience Dry Eye Formula.
"Our Diabetic Vision Formula contains safe, clinically proven ingredients, which include 11 different nutrients such as vitamin B6, omega-3, niacin, lutein, alpha lipoic acid, cinnamon bark, bilberry and grapeseed extract," he explained. "Together, these powerful carotenoid antioxidants and other essential nutritional ingredients can help support healthy ocular blood vessels."
EyeScience formulas are sold directly through eye care professionals and nationwide at any CVS/pharmacy.
