Pepsi MAX kicks off 'Field of Dreams' promo

April 25th, 2012

PURCHASE, N.Y. – PepsiCo's Pepsi MAX brand is giving baseball fans a chance to take the field with Major League Baseball legends in the Pepsi MAX MLB Field of Dreams program.

The beverage giant said Tuesday that through June 15, fans across the country can go to MLB.com/PepsiMAX to votes for players on the American League and National League Pepsi MAX MLB Field of Dreams ballots and be entered for the opportunity to play with their favorite MLB legends in an AL vs. NL matchup.

Last year's program awarded Columbus, Ohio, resident Tim Wisecup the chance to play against legendary ballplayer such as Johnny Bench, Reggie Jackson and Frank Thomas in his hometown on May 12 in front of family, friends and the community.

Pepsi MAX, MLB's official soft drink, said the success of that effort led it to relaunch the program for the 2012 season, in which it will choose two consumer winners: one to represent the AL and one to represent the NL.

To spur the Al-NL rivalry, the two consumer winners will campaign for votes to see who will have home field advantage for the Pepsi MAX MLB Field of Dreams game. The AL and NL ballots include 57 MLB greats, such as Cal Ripken, Jr., Dave Winfield, Rollie Fingers, Ozzie Smith and Randy Johnson, among others at each ballfield position plus relief pitcher and designated hitter.

"We know Pepsi MAX fans are passionate about sports, and for the second straight year we are excited to offer a program that provides a once-in-a-life time experience for our avid and casual fans alike," commented Mark Rooks, senior director for Pepsi sports marketing. "With such a positive response to last year's program, it will be thrilling for Pepsi MAX to make Tim Wisecup's dream come to life on May 12 in Columbus, Ohio, and it will definitely get fans excited for their own chance to win this year's promotion."

Consumers can vote up to 25 times per day at MLB.com/PepsiMAX, and each NL or AL ballot cast counts as an entry to be selected as one of the two consumer winners. Also, for each vote, consumers are entered for a chance to throw out a ceremonial first pitch before a 2012 World Series Game.

The fan-selected Pepsi MAX MLB Field of Dreams AL and NL teams will be unveiled at MLB All-Star FanFest in Kansas City, Mo., on July 10.
