Nipro names chief financial officer

June 5th, 2012

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Dean Sorrentino has joined diabetes management product maker Nipro Diagnostics Inc. as chief financial officer.

Nipro said late Monday that Sorrentino will oversee the company's accounting, treasury, tax, legal and information technology functions and will partner with other senior executives to supervise companywide business operations.

Sorrentino brings to Nipro more than 15 years of finance experience in public and private companies, most recently as vice president and corporate controller at CompuPay Inc., a national provider of payroll and benefit solutions.

"I am pleased to have Dean join the Nipro Diagnostics team. He is uniquely suited for this position, as he brings extensive financial knowledge as well as a deep understanding of our business," stated Scott Verner, president and chief executive officer of Nipro Diagnostics.

In May, Sorrentino assisted with the positioning of CompuPay to be acquired and merged with a Texas-based company, according to Nipro. From January 2006 to April 2009, he served as corporate controller for Home Diagnostics Inc., which Nipro Corp. acquired in March 2010.

Nipro said that while at Home Diagnostics, Sorrentino played a pivotal role in completing the company's initial public offering, as well as building the structure and foundation to operate it as a publicly traded health care firm. He also spent more than five years in public accounting with Deloitte & Touche LLP.

"Nipro Diagnostics is clearly positioned for continued growth and expansion," commented Sorrentino. "I'm excited for this opportunity to bring value and look forward to leveraging my significant healthcare and industry experience."

Nipro's blood glucose monitoring systems and products include items co-branded under the TRUE name for leading retail pharmacy operators such as CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens and Wegmans as well as for distributors such as AmerisourceBergen, Cardinal Health, McKesson, Invacare and Liberty Medical.
