SoloHealth kiosk gets FDA's OK

ATLANTA – SoloHealth has received approval from the Food and Drug Administration for its SoloHealth Station, an interactive, health and wellness screening kiosk for consumers.
Thousands of SoloHealth Stations are expected to be in retail pharmacies by the end of the year.
The SoloHealth Station provides health screenings for vision, blood pressure, weight, and body mass index, as well as a symptom checker and an overall health assessment — free of charge. The health screening kiosk also helps connect consumers to local professionals through their databases, helping people enter the most appropriate and accurate point in the health care system, the company noted.
SoloHealth said Tuesday that the SoloHealth Stations is currently being tested in select U.S. markets and retail locations. Plans call for an aggressive national rollout of the SoloHealth Station, and the company projects thousands of the kiosks will be in retail pharmacy locations nationwide by end of the year.
Executives expect to announce partnerships with key retailers and strategic alliances within the next 30 to 60 days as they ramp up for expansion, according to SoloHealth
The company noted that the SoloHealth Station approval comes as the FDA explores the use of kiosks in pharmacies to educate, self-diagnose and dispense prescription drugs for certain chronic conditions, and as the industry continues to embrace technology for better a consumer interaction and experience.
"We hold accuracy, reliability, and safety standards at the highest level and are pleased to have met and exceeded regulatory standards with the testing trials we have conducted nationwide," stated Stephen Kendig, chief operating officer of SoloHealth, whose initial offering was the EyeSite vision screening kiosk. "With the FDA clearance, we can now aggressively begin our nationwide rollout of the SoloHealth Station, providing consumers free access to their health data in convenient retail locations across the U.S. We believe our SoloHealth Station will help educate and empower millions of Americans to take charge of their own health and should ultimately lead to a healthier, more efficient, and more financially sound nationwide health care system."
Described by the company as a health care consumer engagement platform, the SoloHealth Station provides personalized, targeted and interactive opportunities for consumers, advertisers and retailers through the placement of kiosks in high-traffic retail locations and integration across a multiplatform ecosystem with digital signage, Internet, mobile and social media.
The multiplatform approach gives brand partners, consumers and medical professionals the ease of interaction from many touch points, the company added.
