Lay's adds lower-fat Kettle Cooked chip varieties
July 5th, 2012
PLANO, Texas – Frito-Lay North America has introduced two new potato chip flavors: Lay's Kettle Cooked Applewood Smoked BBQ and Lay's Kettle Cooked Sun-Dried Tomato and Parmesan
The PepsiCo subsidiary said Thursday that the new Kettle Cooked varieties have 40% less fat than regular potato chips and provide an option for "consumers who feel torn between sensible and delicious snacking."
Frito-Lay also noted that the two new Kettle Cooked offerings capture the summer season's best flavors— slightly tangy, sun-dried tomatoes paired with creamy Parmesan cheese and barbecue seasonings accented with a smoky twist.
"Consumers of Lay's Kettle Cooked potato chips, many of whom are baby boomers, are increasingly looking for more unique flavor experiences, while at the same time maintaining balance in their diets," stated Tony Matta, vice president of marketing at Frito-Lay North America. "Thanks to unique flavor layering and high-quality ingredients in new Lay's Kettle Cooked potato chips, consumers can savor the kettle-cooked crunch they've grown to love, with full flavor and less fat."
Lay's Kettle Cooked Applewood Smoked BBQ and Lay's Kettle Cooked Sun-Dried Tomato and Parmesan flavored potato chips are available nationwide in 8-ounce packages for a suggested retail price of $3.49.
