Nestle USA to get new chairman, CEO
August 3rd, 2012
GLENDALE, Calif. – Paul Grimwood, chief executive officer of Nestle UK & Ireland, has been appointed as chairman and CEO of Nestle USA.
The world's largest food company said Friday that Grimwood will move into the new role with the retirement of current Nestle USA chairman and CEO Brad Alford in October.
Grimwood has been CEO of Nestle UK & Ireland since January 2009 and, before that, led the Nestle UK Confectionery business for three years. Nestle noted that during that period, despite a tough economic environment, the company's business in the Nestle UK & Ireland unit delivered consistent growth in sales and profitability and grew overall market share.
Nestle added that Grimwood also led a major investment program to create the company's next generation of world-class manufacturing operations in the United Kingdom. He joined Nestle in 2001 in the Nestle Purina PetCare UK & Ireland unit.
Alford has been with Nestle for 32 years, including almost seven years as Nestle USA chairman and CEO. The company said he was market head of Nestle Oceania, and in the United States he oversaw many businesses during his career, including Nestle FoodServices, Confections & Snacks and Nestle Brands before being named to his current role in late 2005.
During Alford's tenure, Nestle USA has grown to sales of more than $10 billion by expanding into new categories and developing new distribution systems, the company noted. Nestle USA is one of the largest markets for Nestle S.A., based in Switzerland.
