Qualitest releases Singulair generic

August 6th, 2012

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Qualitest Pharmaceuticals has launched montelukast sodium tablets and chewable tablets, indicated for treating the symptoms of asthma and allergic rhinitis.

Qualitest said Monday that its product, which will begin shipping immediately, is a generic version of Merck's Singulair tablets and chewable Tablets

According to Qualitest, the release of its product follows the expiration of the last patent that provided Merck U.S. market exclusivity.

Total U.S. combined sales for montelukast sodium tablets and chewables for the 12 months ended June 30 were about $4.9 billion, according to IMS Health data cited by Qualitest.
