H.D. Smith names exec to manage specialty Rx unit

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – H.D. Smith has appointed Tim Booth as executive vice president of Smith Medical Partners, its specialty pharmaceutical distribution and services subsidiary.

The pharmacy wholesaler said Monday that Booth, previously corporate vice president of H.D. Smith 's home health care operations, will now oversee Smith Medical Partners' operations, sales and company management.

Smith Medical Partners is part of the new H.D. Smith Specialty Solutions group, which was formed last month to provide alignment around specialty and traditional brand products, solutions and services.

"Smith Medical Partners, as part of H.D. Smith Specialty Solutions, is committed to providing customers with a true end-to-end service value chain — enabling health care providers to deliver lifesaving medicines and supplies to patients with specialized needs," stated Joe Conda, president, H.D. Smith Specialty Solutions. "Tim's knowledge and senior-level industry relationships will help us continue the transformation of H.D. Smith from a strictly wholesale distribution company to a services- and solutions-based company that supports the independent community pharmacies, local institutions and specialized care centers that make up the backbone of the U.S. health system."

Booth brings to Smith Medical Partners more than 20 years of experience in leading organizational business strategy, operations, sales and profitability management. He joined H.D. Smith last year as corporate vice president of home health care, where he established methods for improving the profit of that business through vendor and customer relationships, sales leadership and distribution center coordination, the company said.

Before joining H.D. Smith, Booth was president of RxPak, a McKesson Corp. division specializing in the financial and operational responsibilities of its pharmaceutical packaging division. He also has served as president and chief executive officer of PrePak Holdings, a pharmaceutical packaging contract manufacturing and packaging company.
