Clear Eyes signs Vanessa Williams as spokeswoman

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – Actress and singer Vanessa Williams has joined Clear Eyes as its new brand spokeswoman.

The Prestige Brands Holdings Inc. eye drop brand said late Thursday that Williams will star in a national advertising campaign that will include several new television commercials due to start airing in June

In addition, Williams will appear in digital ads on the Clear Eyes website and on the brand's Facebook page.

"With her indisputably beautiful, crystal clear eyes and long-time advocacy for eye health, Vanessa is a natural fit for the Clear Eyes brand," commented Tim Connors, chief marketing officer for Prestige Brands. "Her star power and influence will help the brand reach millions of consumers who suffer from eye irritation."

According to Clear Eyes, the promotional campaign will raise awareness of dry eye and other eye irritations while spotlighting the effectiveness of Clear Eyes over-the-counter eye drops, which are designed to provide fast-acting, multisymptom relief and long-lasting comfort.

About 60% of adults suffer from some type of eye irritation, yet only about 33% use eye drops, Clear Eyes reported.

"As an actress I spend hours on stage under bright lights, reading scripts, sending e-mails and traveling on airplanes — conditions that create the perfect storm of dryness and irritation for my eyes," Williams said in a statement.
