Dasani set to roll out new sparkling beverage

ATLANTA – Coca-Cola Co.'s Dasani water brand is expanding its lineup with the new flavored Dasani Sparkling Water Beverage.

The beverage giant said Thursday that the lightly carbonated Dasani Sparkling is unsweetened, calorie-free and infused with natural flavors.

The product comes in four flavors — lime, lemon, berry and apple — as well as in an unflavored variety.

Plans call for Dasani Sparkling to begin appearing in retail outlets in December, with a national launch scheduled for February 2014.

The beverage will be available in a 12-ounce 12-pack, 12-ounce 24-variety pack for clubs, and in PET PlantBottle (made with up to 30% plant-based materials) in 20-ounce and 1-liter sizes.

"DASANI drinkers are looking for ways to stay hydrated throughout the day. Now we'll be able to offer them another fun, tasty, unsweetened option to 'Drink Up,' " commented Mary-Ann Somers, vice president of water, tea and coffee for the Coca-Cola North America Group.

The company noted that Somers recently joined the Partnership for a Healthier America to mark the launch of the Drink Up initiative. Dasani is supporting the effort to encourage people to drink more water.
