VOXX portable speaker brings wireless audio to smartphones

October 24th, 2013

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. – VOXX Accessories Corp. has rolled out the SoundFlow Soundboard Portable Speaker, which enables consumers to wirelessly add amplified audio to their smartphones.

To get amplified audio, consumers just place their smartphone on top of the SoundFlow Soundboard Portable Speaker.

VOXX said Wednesday that with the SoundFlow Soundboard, smartphone users don't need any wires, pairing or connection; they just place their mobile phone atop of the Soundboard to get wireless audio.

According to the company, the Soundboard supports virtually all brands and models of today's smartphones and will work with almost any portable device with a speaker.

VOXX noted that the user-friendly, lightweight speaker can be used to listen to music in the house, on the go or in the office. It also can be used as a speakerphone; users just place their smartphone on top of the Soundboard to take calls hands-free in a group setting.

Providing enhanced sound quality and amplification over a smartphone's built-in audio, the Soundboard Portable Speaker has a total output power of 2 watts, with enhanced sound from its dual-ported audio design, volume controls and a 3.5mm audio in jack (cable included). It offers two options for power: 5-volt DC or batteries (3 AA, sold separately), with an LED power indicator.

VOXX said it developed SoundFlow wireless audio technology in response to a survey it conducted showing that of the nearly 80% of smartphone users that listen to music from their phones, 55%) still use the phone's built-in speakers at times to listen to music.

"The SoundFlow product line grew out of a simple desire: to make it as easy as possible to turn smartphone audio into sound that's big enough to enjoy out loud. The Soundboard takes this convenience one step further by making SoundFlow completely portable," stated David Geise, president of VOXX Accessories Corp. "Just place any smartphone with music playing on top of the Soundboard to enjoy music anywhere in a big way. When you're ready to move, just pick up the Soundboard and your phone and go."

The Soundboard comes in three color schemes — SP20WHBK (white top, chrome trim and black bottom), SP20WDBK (woodgrain top, chrome trim and black bottom) and SP20BKGR (matte black top, lime green trim and black bottom) — and carries a suggested retail price of $29.99. It's availabe at major retailers, including Walgreens and Office Depot.
