Actavis revamps U.S. specialty brands business

January 14th, 2014

DUBLIN, Ireland – Actavis plc has restructured its U.S. Specialty Brands business to capitalize on its strengthened position in key therapeutic areas and foster long-term growth.

Under the new organization announced Tuesday, Actavis' U.S. Specialty Brands business will now encompass four business units: Women's Health, Urology/Gastroenterology, Dermatology/Established Brands and Business Operations.

The company has named Herm Cukier to lead the U.S. Specialty Brands Women's Health category, Charles Sabino to lead the U.S. Specialty Brands Urology/Gastroenterology therapeutic category and Thomas Griffin to lead the Business Operations team.

Actavis said it's engaged in planning efforts for the leadership of the U.S. Specialty Brands Dermatology and Established Brands business.

The four business unit leaders will report to Tim Callahan, senior vice president of commercial operations, who reports to Fred Wilkinson, president of Actavis Specialty Brands.

"The significant increase in size and complexity of our U.S. Specialty Brands business, following the acquisition of Warner Chilcott last year, demands that we have the right structure and exceptional leadership team in place to drive our continued commercial success in the future," Wilkinson stated. "We believe this business unit structure will provide the most effective way to manage our larger portfolio, provide deeper product and customer insights and deliver the necessary focus to drive continued growth in each therapeutic category within our U.S. Specialty Brands business."

Cukier, who will serve as general manager of U.S. Specialty Brands Women's Health, joins Actavis from Bayer, where he most recently was vice president of marketing and commercial operations for women's health care. As general manager of  U.S. Specialty Brands Urology/Gastroenterology, Sabino comes to Actavis from Aptalis Pharma, where he served as vice president of marketing for the specialty pharmaceutical company, focused on gastroenterology and cystic fibrosis treatments.

Griffin has been with Actavis since 2011 as vice president of sales and operations for the U.S. Specialty Brands business.
