Prilosec OTC shares heartburn advice for new year
January 21st, 2014
CINCINNATI – Prilosec OTC has teamed up with celebrity chef and nutritionist Chef LaLa and medical expert Dr. Jorge Rodriguez to help Hispanic Americans keep frequent heartburn symptoms at bay.
The Procter & Gamble antacid brand said Tuesday that Chef LaLa and Dr. Rodriguez are sharing health and nutrition tips on controlling frequent heartburn, leaving more time for people to focus on more important things such as enjoying time with friends or beginning new and healthy lifestyle choices.
"With the New Year, I often get patients who are looking for tips on how to change their lifestyles, and one way to do that is to manage frequent heartburn," Rodriguez stated. "By adding Prilosec OTC to a proactive health plan, patients are better able to enjoy all of their New Year's resolutions be they hiking, dancing or eating the foods they love instead of worrying about heartburn."
One way to help manage heartburn is to stay active and lose weight, according to Rodriguez. Losing weight helps alleviate pressure from your stomach, which assists in preventing frequent heartburn. Also, after a nice meal with friends or family, consumers should take a leisurely walk to aid in digestion, he suggested. By walking, the body will allow time for the food to digest and empty from the stomach, in turning encouraging stomach acid to stay down instead of rising.
Meanwhile, Chef LaLa recommends drinking more water. By incorporating plenty of water into their daily routine, consumers can mitigate heartburn since water helps with digestion and washes out acid.
The celebrity chef also suggests that consumers avoid foods and beverages that could trigger heartburn symptoms. Those items include onions, peppermint, chocolate, caffeinated beverages such as coffee, citrus fruit or juices, tomatoes and high-fat foods.
Prilosec OTC works for 24 hours with one pill daily by directly shutting down many acid pumps in the stomach, used as directed for 14 days to treat frequent heartburn.
P&G said consumers can request a free sample of Prilosec OTC and learn more about ways to manage frequent heartburn at PrilosecOTC.com.
