SheaMoisture launches ultra-sensitive baby shampoo, lotion

January 24th, 2014

AMITYVILLE, N.Y. – SheaMoisture has rolled out two new natural baby care products formulated to be extra-gentle on young children's skin.

Parent company Sundial Brands said Thursday that the new SheaMoisture Baby Extra-Mild Wash & Shampoo and SheaMoisture Baby Healing Lotion are fragrance-free, gluten-free, made especially for babies and children with allergies and skin sensitivities, including gluten and fragrance intolerance.

The hypoallergenic, pediatrician-tested Baby Extra-Mild Wash & Shampoo provides head-to-toe gentle cleansing for sensitive skin, without sulfates. It contains organic shea, cocoa and mango butters as well as aloe vera and vitamin E to hydrate, soothe and heal tender skin.

Meanwhile, the Baby Healing Lotion is designed to deeply moisturize a baby's skin without the irritation caused by synthetic dyes, fragrance or gluten. It's formulated with a blend of organic shea, cocoa and mango butters plus aloe vera and vitamin E to soften and protect skin, as well as calm inflamed skin.

In addition, the wash and lotion are free of parabens, phthalates, paraffin, propylene glycol, mineral oil, DEA, sulfates, silicones and artificial coloring.

Both products come in a 13-ounce size and retail for $9.99. SheaMoisture fragrance-free and gluten-free baby care products are available at Target and Walgreens stores.

According to 2013 proprietary research from Kiwi Magazine and SheaMoisture, a third of 7,000 mothers surveyed think their child has sensitive skin.

"Our focus has been creating natural, solution-oriented products for the entire family. We've specifically formulated these products to pamper and protect the delicate, ultra-sensitive skin of the newest member of the family," stated Richelieu Dennis, chief executive officer of Sundial, which also offers the Nubian Heritage brand.
