L'eggs egg packaging to make limited-time return

March 3rd, 2014

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – This month, L'eggs Sheer Energy plans to bring back its iconic egg packaging for a limited time at selected retailers.

The HanesBrands Inc. women's legwear brand said Monday that the L'eggs egg will be available nationwide starting in March for a suggested retail price of $5.50 at Walgreens and select Rite Aid and Walmart stores.

The company noted that the return of the egg packaging — which was a symbol of sheer legwear and was key to making Sheer Energy the nation's No. 1 sheer support brand — stemmed from numerous consumer requests, including one fan asking for its return twice a week for the past year.

"We're excited to bring back a part of the L'eggs brand heritage that's remembered and cherished by so many," stated Angela Hawkins, vice president and general manager of legwear at HanesBrands.

In addition, L'eggs plans to celebrate its heritage, under the tagline "Fabulous after 40," with a sweepstakes offering women a chance to win more than $40,000 in prizes. The sweepstakes will run through April 28. To enter, consumers can go to leggsluckyegg.com and complete the sweepstakes entry form.

The L'eggs Lucky Egg Sweepstakes grand prize winner and a guest will receive a round trip to Las Vegas for a special egg hunt, a $2,000 shopping spree, a beauty makeover and tickets to attend a Las Vegas show. In addition, the grand prize winner will receive $25,000. And starting March 10, eight prize winners announced each Monday will get a check for $1,000.

The brand also has launched a social media campaign on its Facebook page with a 3D animated video showcasing the egg packaging over the decades, from the "Far Out '60s" through the "Totally Awesome '80s" and to the "OMG 2000s."
