Boldface Group names new chief executive

SANTA MONICA, Calif. – John LaBonty has been appointed president and chief executive officer at Boldface Group Inc., a celebrity beauty licensing company,

Boldface said Tuesday that Labonty comes to the company with broad experience in consumer products, including as vice president and general manager of international for Smashbox Cosmetics.

LaBonty also brings extensive mass-market consumer brand experience with Procter & Gamble and Tambrands. He has led multiple sales, marketing and general management organizations at both companies within North America and internationally.

He also served as the vice president of sales and distribution for Citigroup's Latin America consumer division, where he oversaw a $2.3 billion organization of more than 10,000 personnel in 19 countries.

"We could not be more thrilled with the addition of Mr. LaBonty to lead the company. We are honored that Mr. LaBonty will be taking the helm and bringing the company vision to life," stated Nicole Ostoya, Boldface's current CEO, who will transition to the title of co-founder and chief marketing officer. "He brings excellent leadership, operational and financial expertise combined with significant international experience."

Founded by beauty industry veterans Ostoya and Robin Coe Hutshing, Boldface sells cosmetics and beauty products under the Kardashian Beauty brand, and the company said it plans to sell fragrance products by Mario Lopez and beauty and personal care products by UglyDoll.
