Edge Shave Gel launches 'Dream Job' social media contest
May 21st, 2014
SHELTON, Conn. – A new social media promotion from Edge Shave Gel is offering men a shot at a "Dream Job."
The Energizer Personal Care men's shaving brand said Wednesday that under its #DreamJob social media contest, men can create an online resume on Facebook and complete a series of challenges to score points, impress the judges and be one of four qualified winners of a behind-the-scenes experience with Sports Illustrated, IGN, Thrillist or Seth Meyers and Mike Shoemaker's Hulu Original series "The Awesomes."
Dream Job candidates will have six weeks to use social media to post content and finish challenges to land an interview for the job of their choice. The winning applicant for each Dream Job experience will be chosen based on his resume strength and qualifications for the role by a panel of judges, including representatives from the brand, Sports Illustrated, IGN, Thrillist and Broadway Video, a producer of "The Awesomes."
The Edge Shave Gel Dream Job Experiences are the following:
• SI Swimsuit Photographer: After a private lesson with the Sports Illustrated director of photography, grab your camera bag and sunscreen before jetting off to assist at a Swimsuit Edition photo shoot.
• Thrillist Taste Tester: Step into the culinary critic world and contribute to Thrillist as a guest taste tester for two months and host your own tasting event at the end of the summer.
• "The Awesomes" Funnyman: Learn what goes into producing a Hulu original animated series created by Seth Meyers and Mike Shoemaker and produced by Broadway Video and Bento Box Entertainment. You'll receive a week-long mentorship at Bento Box Entertainment, the series' production studio, and can make your on-screen debut with a cartoon cameo on the show.
• IGN Community Correspondent: Experience PAX Prime, where you'll get a firsthand look at the next generation of video games and get special access to one of gaming's biggest shows for IGN and Edge.
"Edge Shave Gel does more than give guys an advantage in front of the mirror. We're dedicated to providing a leg up in all aspects of their lives," stated Matt Rader, group marketing director at Energizer Personal Care. "Edge users are ambitious and hard-working, so now we're helping them break into some of today's most competitive industries with these Dream Job experiences."
Prospective candidates can bolster their resumes and earn points by registering on EdgeDreamJob.com, syncing their social networks, posting content and completing challenges. Challenges will ask men to respond to prompts on social media focused on the requirements of each job, such as writing food and drink reviews for Thrillist on Facebook or using Instagram to share a picture of your at-home gaming set-up for IGN. Candidates will use a designated hashtag for each dream job experience (#Work4SI, #Work4Thrillist, #Work4Awesomes, or #Workf4IGN), linking their content and gaining points to add to their resume.
Edge Shave Gel also will let candidates see what others are bringing to the table. Each job experience page will feature a resume stack so men can see where they rank and get inspired to create new content and earn more points. At the end of six weeks, a group of 10 top-scorers for each job will be chosen for the final interview process. The winner will experience the Dream Job opportunity of a lifetime and gain valuable on-the-job experience working closely with industry leaders.
For men who don't make it to the top of the resume stack, there are other ways to win. Each piece of content candidates share using a Dream Job hashtag is an entry to win a daily prize pack featuring a laptop case and a year's supply of Edge Shave Gel, or a weekly prize inspired by each job — including a Ubisoft Watchdogs Next-Gen Gaming Package and a Canon EOS Rebel T3i Digital SLR camera with lens.
