Lannett to distribute Aceon authorized generic

July 21st, 2014

PHILADELPHIA – Lannett Co. has signed an agreement with Symplmed Inc. to be the exclusive U.S. distributor of an authorized generic version of Aceon, a hypertension medication.

Lannett said Friday that the authorized generic of Aceon (perindopril erbumine tablets) will come in dosages of 2 mg, 4 mg and 8 mg. The company said it expects to begin shipping the product soon.

Aceon is an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor approved to treat patients with high blood pressure and to reduce the risk of heart attack in patients with stable coronary artery disease.

Annual sales of perindopril erbumine tablets (2 mg, 4 mg and 8 mg) at average wholesale price total approximately $3.5 million, according to IMS Health data reported by Lannett.
