WARREN, N.J. — Antacid brand Tums will get its own spotlight during the Super Bowl with a “quartertime show” to help football fans tackle heartburn as they munch while watching the NFL’s big game.

Tums Quartertime ShowGlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare said Thursday that fans can tune in to the Tums Quartertime Show on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube after the first and third quarters of the Super Bowl on Feb. 5.

The four-minute show is hosted by the Tums mascots — a giant taco, meatball and bacon — and stars six social media influencers broken up into two teams, #TEAMHEART and #TEAMBURN.

The teams will battle inside a 120-foot-long “tacobstacle” course to get their hands on an extra-large Tums bottle to sack heartburn. The course features big taco cannons that fire over three pounds of ground beef a minute, huge “tacocycles,” gigantic olives and massive human burritos. The losers will get covered in lukewarm nacho cheese.

According to Tums, this year’s Super Bowl is expected to be the second-biggest eating day of the year, behind Thanksgiving. Last year, football fans ate nearly 1 billion chicken wings during the game.

Still, 59% Americans won’t be monitoring what they eat during the big game, according to a national survey conducted by Tums. This year, 90% of respondents said they will eat foods that frequently cause or aggravate heartburn, and 36% agreed it’s important to have antacids on hand.

“The Big Game often means big heartburn,” commented Stacey Harris, senior brand manager for Tums. “Nothing says heartburn more than hundreds of tacos flying around inside an even larger taco. Luckily, Tums is here to provide fast heartburn relief during the big game so you can enjoy the foods you love.”

Starring in the Tums Quartertime Show will be social media influencers Robby Ayala, Oscar Miranda, Darius Benson, Alonzo Lerone, Sara Hopkins and Josh Darnit.
