PCMA announces Virtual PBM Policy Forum 2021

WASHINGTON — Today, the Pharmaceutical Care Management Association (PCMA) announced the Virtual PBM Policy Forum 2021, featuring health care, pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), and pharmaceutical manufacturer industry thought leaders and executives discussing how the public and private sectors are tackling drug costs and improving the affordability and quality of care for patients.

“We are pleased to announce this year’s PCMA PBM Policy Forum. The 2021 PBM Policy Forum identifies and explores key issues in the prescription drug market, including pharmacy care innovation, and the ways pharmacy benefit managers are working to reduce costs and improve clinical care for patients,” said JC Scott, PCMA President and CEO.

Two sessions are available to view now, and the remaining sessions will be released in future installments. 

 

The PBM Policy Forum will address several topics, including:

• Achieving widespread COVID-19 vaccination,

• Public policy implications of digital therapeutics,

• Using real-world data to promote value-based purchasing and deliver patient-centered care,

• Promoting access to biosimilars,

• Innovation to addressing the high costs of orphan and gene therapies,

• Delivering value for Medicaid and Medicare Part D beneficiaries,

• Improving health outcomes and affordable access to specialty drugs for patients, and

• Partnering with employers.

In addition, PCMA recently released a new policy platform with proposals aimed at reducing prescription drug costs by updating Medicare Part D, enhancing competition, and building a more value-driven health care system for patients.
