NEW YORK — Former Supervalu Inc. executive Duncan Mac Naughton has joined Wal-Mart Canada Inc., Chain Drug Review has learned.

Mac Naughton is slated to serve as chief marketing officer at the Canadian arm of the discount retail giant, according to industry sources.

Supervalu announced Monday that Mac Naughton, 47, had resigned from the company effective September 28. He held the post of executive vice president of merchandising and marketing.

Over the summer, Mac Naughton was tabbed to head the food and drug retailer’s new health and wellness division. The announcement of the new division came as Supervalu made leadership changes as part of a realignment of retail operations.

Also, last month, Mac Naughton was elected to the board of directors at the National Association of Chain Drug Stores.
