AmerisourceBergen recognized for environmental sustainability leadership

VALLEY FORGE, Pa. AmerisourceBergen announced that it reached another milestone on its environmental sustainability journey by earning a B on the 2020 CDP Climate Change Disclosure. The CDP assesses companies on the comprehensiveness of their disclosure, awareness and management of environmental risks and demonstration of best practices associated with environmental leadership.

AmerisourceBergen scored particularly high on CDP disclosure in areas related to business impact and financial planning, scope 1 & 2 emissions, and emission reduction initiatives.

Knowing that energy management is critical to sustainability and an area of continuous improvement, AmerisourceBergen has worked to deploy efficiency measures across the organization. The company focuses on ensuring transportation and energy efficiency, managing greenhouse gas emissions, minimizing waste and maximizing recycling. Most recently, AmerisourceBergen moved beyond operational efficiencies to also focus on climate adaption strategies, including those that address social impacts and the risks to physical assets.

CDP’s annual environmental disclosure and scoring process is widely recognized as the gold standard of corporate environmental transparency. A detailed and independent methodology is used by CDP to assess companies on a scale of A to D-. CDP is a not-for-profit charity that runs the global disclosure system for investors, companies, cities, states and regions to manage their environmental impacts.
