Mauch named president of new pharma distribution and sourcing group

VALLEY FORGE, Pa. — AmerisourceBergen Corp. said it has reorganized its operating model and leadership to meet customer needs “in a more seamless and unified way.”

The pharmaceutical distributor announced Monday that its customer-facing offerings are now aligned under two groups: Pharmaceutical Distribution and Strategic Global Sourcing, and Global Commercialization Services and Animal Health. The company also has formed a new management committee that it said will foster “quicker, cross-functional decision-making.”

Robert Mauch, executive vice president and president of AmerisourceBergen Drug Corp. (ABDC), has been named to lead Pharmaceutical Distribution and Strategic Global Sourcing as group president. The business unit includes services to retail chain and independent pharmacies, health systems, physician practices and alternate care sites, along with the company’s sourcing, repackaging and specialty pharmacy capabilities.

Robert Mauch has been appointed group president of the newly formed Pharmaceutical Distribution and Strategic Global Sourcing unit.

As part of the group, Peyton Howell will take on a new role as president of health systems, physician practices and strategic health solutions. She previously served as executive VP and president of global sourcing and manufacturer relations.

To oversee the Global Commercialization Services and Animal Health unit, AmerisourceBergen has appointed James Cleary as group president. Most recently, Cleary was executive VP and president of MWI Veterinary Supply. The newly formed group comprises AmerisourceBergen’s solutions for product commercialization and patient access, as well as international development and animal health.

For financial reporting, AmerisourceBergen’s operations will continue to be the Pharmaceutical Distribution Services reportable segment and “Other.”

Besides Collis, Mauch and Cleary, the new management committee of senior executives includes chief financial officer Tim Guttman, chief legal and business officer John Chou and chief communications and administration officer Gina Clark.

In announcing the new committee, AmerisourceBergen said Chou will now have responsibility for legal and regulatory affairs along with strategy, innovation and business development led by Sun Park, executive VP of strategy and business development, as well as information technology led by Dale Danilewitz, executive VP and chief information officer. Also, Clark will now have responsibility for marketing and communication and corporate citizenship and sustainability plus human resources, led by Kathy Gaddes, executive VP and chief human resources officer, and government affairs, led by Rita Norton, senior VP of government affairs and public policy.

After 10 years of service with a track record of exceptional integrity, leadership and performance,

James Frary, previously executive VP and president of AmerisourceBergen Specialty Group (ABSG), is leaving the company to to pursue new opportunities, AmerisourceBergen said. A 10-year company veteran, Frary will be available to support the organization over the next few months as he transitions from his role.
