Amneal releases Tamiflu generic

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — Amneal Pharmaceuticals has launched oseltamivir phosphate capsules, an antiviral medication used to treat symptoms of influenza.

Amneal oseltamivir phospate capsulesAmneal said its oseltamivir phosphate product, a generic version of Tamiflu from Genentech, comes in dosages of 30 mg, 45 mg and 75 mg. Each strength is available in 10-count blister dose packs.

Manufactured in Amneal’s recently expanded Brookhaven, N.Y., facility, the oseltamivir phosphate capsules began shipping from the company’s Glasgow, Ky., distribution center and can be purchased through major pharmaceutical wholesalers and distributors.

“Flu season is closer than we realize. Amneal strives to assist health care providers and their patients by providing access to affordable treatments with our generic medication,” stated Jim Luce, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Amneal.

U.S. sales of Tamiflu totaled approximately $444 million for the 12 months through May, according to QuintilesIMS market data reported by Amneal.
