SEATTLE — Bartell Drugs has remodeled a pair of stores and plans to open a new store next year.

The Puget Sound-area drug chain has completed renovations of stores in West Seattle and Snohomish and announced a new outlet for Snoqualmie, east of Lake Washington.

The West Seattle site now features Bartell’s 10th CareClinic walk-in medical clinic, while the Snohomish outlet has added a drive-through pharmacy window. Both locations — measuring a little more than 14,000 square feet and taking just over four months to complete — have been updated with energy-efficient LED lighting fixtures, new shelving and furniture and modernized flooring.

Several category assortments also have been expanded. The Market sections feature a broadened mix including locally produced food, beer and wine and increased cooler capacity for more beverages and frozen food items. The beauty departments have experienced a makeover as well with an enlarged selection including the popular e.l.f., NYX and L.A. Colors cosmetics brands.

The pharmacies feature an enhanced, comfortable waiting area, a private consultation room, and a host of preventive care services, including immunizations.

The Snohomish location, at Seattle Hill Road and 132nd St. Southeast, was originally opened as a Bartell Drugs/True Value store in 1997. The West Seattle store is at 4706 42nd Ave. SW.

Due to open next summer, the 15,000-square-foot Snoqualmie outlet will be one of the primary tenants in the new Ridge Plaza shopping center at Douglas Avenue and Snoqualmie Parkway.

“Bartell Drugs is excited by the opportunities presented by this store opening,” Bartell president and chief executive officer Brian Unmacht said in a statement. “The new Snoqualmie Ridge location will continue our unique blend of expert pharmacy services along with a great selection of local products.”

Tom Erlandson, president of EDG Commercial Real Estate, the owner and developer of Ridge Plaza, said commitments for stores from Bartell Drugs and Safeway ensure “we will have the premier grocer and drug store in the Pacific Northwest anchoring our project for years to come. Our grand opening in the summer of 2017 will be a true celebration for the city of Snoqualmie.”

Bartell Drugs currently operates more than 20 stores serving customers on the Eastside and has 64 stores overall.
