Bartell Drugs eyes upcoming store openings

SEATTLE — A trio of new Bartell Drugs stores are in the works, with two opening in the coming weeks and one early next year.

Bartell Drugs storeThe Seattle-area drug chain said Thursday that it plans to open its 68th store in Arlington, Wash., during the the first quarter of 2018. Ground is slated to be broken for the 14,622-square-foot store in the late summer.

Also this summer, Bartell Drugs plans to open its 66th and 67th locations, in Green Lake and Snoqualmie Ridge. The chain’s current 65 stores are located throughout Washington’s King, Snohomish and Pierce counties, with the retailer’s trade area stretching from Everett south to University Place near Tacoma.

“Bartell Drugs is pleased to be able to have the opportunity to serve the Arlington community,” chief financial officer Rob Jensen said in a statement. “Extending into the northeastern areas along the I-5 corridor allows us to bring our convenient services and unique product assortment to Arlington and surrounding communities.”

The Arlington store will be located at the northwest corner of Highway 9 and 204th Street. Its full-service pharmacy will feature a drive-through window, and the store will offer a selection of thousands of health, beauty and lifestyle products, along with local consumables products such as Oberto Jerky, Theo Chocolates, and area microbrews and Washington wines.
