Benzer Pharmacy gains URAC specialty Rx accreditation

TAMPA, Fla. — Benzer Pharmacy has received specialty pharmacy accreditation from health standards body URAC.

The drug chain said that the Benzer Pharmacy in Auburndale, Fla., has been granted full accreditation pursuant to Specialty Pharmacy, Version 2.1. The URAC accreditation process demonstrates a commitment to quality services and serves as a framework to improve business processes through benchmarking organizations against nationally recognized standards.

“Achieving the specialty accreditation from URAC reaffirms our company’s dedication to consistency and excellence in delivering great services as the pharmacy is projected to grow rapidly in order to reach more customers and to make sure their experiences match their expectations,” Benzer Pharmacy president Alpesh Patel said in a statement. “Benzer specializes in specialty drugs and also focuses on patient management programs for people with complex chronic diseases, including hepatitis, HIV, Crohn’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis and other dermatological conditions.”

Overall, Benzer has more than 50 community pharmacy locations in Florida, Michigan, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Georgia, Nevada and Louisiana.

“Receiving an accreditation from URAC serves as recognition of Benzer Pharmacy’s commitment to world-class care, quality and innovation, as well as the strength and quality of our relationships with our network providers, clients and members,” commented Lindsay Wall, chief clinical officer at Benzer.

Washington, D.C.-based URAC establishes standards for the health care industry, covering such areas as network management, provider credentialing, utilization management, quality improvement and consumer protection.
