OAK BROOK, Ill. — Walgreen Co. executive Rachel Bishop has joined TreeHouse Foods Inc. as senior vice president and chief strategy officer.

In this role she becomes a key member of the TreeHouse executive leadership team and reports to Sam Reed, chairman, president and chief executive officer. She is based at the TreeHouse corporate headquarters in Oak Brook, Ill.

Previously, Bishop spent five years at Walgreens, most recently as group vice president of retail development. She joined the drug chain in May 2009 as vice president of strategic planning and analysis, and then in September 2012 she was appointed vice president of global merchandising and own brand expansion.

Before coming to Walgreens, Bishop consulted at McKinsey & Co. with a roster of consumer packaged goods and retailer clients in the areas of marketing, strategy and innovation.

“We are excited to have Rachel join TreeHouse during this time of great growth for our company,” Reed said in a statement. “She has enjoyed a wide-ranging and relevant career as both a management consultant and retailing executive, which positions her well to make significant contributions at TreeHouse.”

TreeHouse produces a wide range of food products — including shelf-stable, refrigerated and private label items — and primarily serves the retail grocery and food service distribution channels.
