TARRYTOWN, N.Y. — Start-up Blacksmith Brands Inc. has wrapped up its acquisition of five over-the-counter consumer products brands from McNeil-PPC Inc. and unveiled a partnership with The Emerson Group.

Blacksmith said Friday that it has acquired McNeil’s Efferdent denture cleaner, EfferGrip denture adhesive cream, Luden’s throat drops, PediaCare children’s cough and cold medicine, PediaCare Gentle Vapors waterless vaporizer and NasalCrom allergy spray.

Meanwhile, Blacksmith announced a business and equity alliance with The Emerson Group, a Wayne, Pa.-based sales and marketing firm. Under the partnership, Emerson will provide sales and sales management services.

"We are pleased and proud to have The Emerson Group as our partner not only in the operation of our business, but as an equity partner in our new company," Blacksmith chief executive officer Peter Mann said in a statement. "We believe that The Emerson Group will be a key catalyst in our plans to grow Blacksmith Brands into a major consumer products company."

Scott Emerson, chairman and CEO of The Emerson Group, commented, "We are really excited about this new partnership with Blacksmith Brands. I’ve known this management team for many years now, and I’m looking forward to working with them to grow these brands and to make additional brand acquisitions in the months and years ahead."

Late last month, investment firm Charlesbank Capital Partners LLC announced the formation of Blacksmith with the acquisition of the five McNeil OTC products.
