Blistex acquires TUCKS brand

OAK BROOK, Ill. — Blistex Inc. has purchased the TUCKS brand of over-the-counter rectal medications from Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc.

TUCKS medicated padsFinancial terms of the agreement weren’t disclosed. Blistex said Monday that the deal includes the TUCKS businesses in North America as well as international trademark rights. The transaction closed on July 8, the company said.

TUCKS products provide soothing relief from hemorrhoidal and other types of rectal irritation. The line includes TUCKS Medicated Cooling Pads, TUCKS Take Alongs Medicated Cooling Towelettes, TUCKS Hemorrhoidal Ointment, TUCKS Internal Soothers Suppositories and TUCKS Fast Relief Spray.

According to Blistex, the TUCKS brand ranks second in its category in the United States and third in Canada.

Besides TUCKS, the company’s portfolio includes such brands as Blistex lip care, Odor Eaters foot odor/wetness products, Stridex acne care, Kank-A oral analgesics and Ivarest itch relief. Blistex also markets the Glysomed skin care line, which the company said includes the top-selling hand cream in Canada.
