WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Caremark Corp. has named Mike Bloom senior vice president of merchandising and supply chain.

In his new role, Bloom will continue to be responsible for CVS’ front-end merchandising and category management, but he also will now oversee the chain’s distribution and inventory operations.

Since joining CVS in 1991, Bloom has held a variety of positions. He has been senior vice president of merchandising since 2003.

Meanwhile, Scott Baker, a 22-year CVS veteran who has been senior vice president of CVS’ eastern division since 2007, has been named senior vice president of internal operations and real estate.

In his new capacity, Baker is responsible for store and pharmacy operations supporting CVS outlets, as well as new location development and facilities management.

After CVS decided earlier this year to merge its central and eastern units into a single group called the east division, it has named former central division senior vice president Hanley Wheeler to head the unit.

Meanwhile, former Osco-Sav-on executive Dennis Palmer, who has been senior vice president of stores for CVS’ western division since 2007, will continue in that role, overseeing the operations of about 2,100 stores in California, Texas, Arizona, Nevada and parts of the Midwest, as well as the stores CVS acquired in Hawaii from Longs Drug Stores.
