Carmex launches new skin care line

MILWAUKEE — Carma Laboratories Inc., the maker of Carmex lip balm products, has unveiled a new skin care product line, Carmex Healing Lotion and Carmex Healing Cream.

The company said Tuesday that the new line marks the first time that it has expanded its product offerings beyond lip balm. Carma noted that the two new products — to be available exclusively at all Walgreens drug stores in the United States and Walgreens.com beginning in August and through drugstore.com beginning in September — were developed in response to consumer demand.

According to Carma, the new skin care line provides the healing effect that customers expect from Carmex without feeling greasy. The Carmex lotion and cream use a patent-pending process and rich healing ingredients to heal, moisturize and help repair even the driest, roughest skin, the company said, adding that the lotion is for everyday use while the cream is intended for more intensive healing.

The 5.5-ounce Carmex Healing Lotion features aloe and vitamin E to moisturize, heal and protect skin from dryness. It has a light, pleasant scent and is formulated for daily use.

Meanwhile, the 4-ounce Carmex Healing Cream is a thicker, more concentrated formula that penetrates deep into the skin to repair extremely dry, cracked skin. It features nine concentrated healing and moisturizing ingredients and can be used anywhere on the body. It is particularly effective on areas that typically get very dry, such as the hands, feet, elbows and knees, the company said.

The suggested retail price for the new Carmex Healing Lotion and Healing Cream is $5.99 each.

"For years customers have asked us to develop a skin care product that works as well as the lip balm," commented Paul Woelbing, president of Carma Laboratories. "We’re leveraging our 73 years of experience to bring the healing power of Carmex to skin and to give our customers what they’ve been asking for."
