CeraVe to expand skin care lineup

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — Early next year, Valeant Pharmaceuticals North America plans to add four new products to its CeraVe skin care line.

CeraVe’s new products include the Skin Renewing Cream Serum, Skin Renewing Night Cream, Renewing SA Cleanser and Hydrating Cleanser Bar.

Due to roll out to Walgreens, CVS/pharmacy and Walmart stores in February are CeraVe Skin Renewing Cream Serum, CeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream, CeraVe Renewing SA Cleanser and the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser Bar. The serum, night cream and SA cleanser also will be launched at Target stores.

Formulated with essential ceramides, hyaluronic acid, and niacinamide, CeraVe Skin Renewing Cream Serum is designed to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while helping to repair and restore the skin barrier, resulting in brighter, smoother skin that looks healthy and radiant, according to Valeant. It contains an encapsulated 1% retinol and ceramide complex, which stabilizes and delivers the retinol into the skin gradually over time so it won’t cause harsh irritation like many retinols. The nongreasy and fast-absorbing formula, priced at $17.99 for a 1-ounce tube, also contains vederine, a vitamin D analog known to provide epidermal and skin barrier support.

CeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream is formulated to restore the skin barrier overnight, allowing users to wake up with skin that looks refreshed and renewed. Priced at $17.99 for a 1.7-ounce container, this nongreasy formula contains an exclusive ceramide and peptide complex, along with kollaren and chronoline to help reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles and support skin elasticity. Ceramides, hyaluronic acid and niacinamide work to provide intense hydration while helping to repair and restore the protective skin barrier.

Meanwhile, CeraVe Renewing SA Cleanser exfoliates and detoxifies to remove dirt and oil while softening and smoothing skin. The formula contains ceramides, bitamin D and salicylic acid (SA), which Valenat noted is preferred by many dermatologists for chemical exfoliation. But unlike many exfoliating cleansers, CeraVe Renewing SA Cleanser contains no harsh beads or grains and is gentle on skin. It’s designed to better prepare skin for essential hydration by sloughing off dead skin cells while cleansing. The product comes in an 8-ounce pump container and retails for $12.99.

Also formulated with essential ceramides, hyaluronic acid and niacinamide, the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser Bar gently removes dirt, oil and makeup and goes beyond cleansing to help repair and restore the protective skin barrier, according to Valeant. Unlike any other cleansing bar, the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser Bar contains 5% CeraVe Moisturizing Cream, hydrating and nourishing the skin as it cleanses so that skin feels soft. The company said that in a clinical study, the Hydrating Cleanser Bar was shown to lock in moisture three times longer than the leading brand.
