ORLANDO – The Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA) released the following statement today congratulating its Senior Vice President of Regulatory & Scientific Affairs Barbara A. Kochanowski, Ph.D., for recently receiving the association’sRegulatory & Scientific Affairs Career Achievement Award during its annual Self-Care Leadership Summit (SLS) held earlier this month in Orlando, Florida. After nearly four decades in the consumer healthcare industry – 14 years at CHPA and 23 years at The Procter & Gamble Company (P&G) – Dr. Kochanowski’s retirement was announced at SLS’s Opening Session on March 20, where she received a standing ovation for her outstanding contributions to self-care from more than 300 industry leaders.

CHPA’s Regulatory & Scientific Affairs Career Achievement Award was established in 2022 to recognize individuals who have created a long-lasting impact in support of public health via self-care throughout their career of at least 20 years. These individuals have applied their expertise in many ways; for example, to enable new products and technologies, to help shape a constructive regulatory environment, or to develop new research techniques. They are recognized across the industry as leaders in their field who have devoted time to recruiting, training, and mentoring future experts. This year’s award was presented to Dr. Kochanowski by CHPA President and CEO Scott Melville and Haleon’s Vice President of U.S. Regulatory Affairs and Chair of CHPA’s Regulatory & Scientific Affairs Committee Lauren Quinn.

“I want to express my sincere congratulations and gratitude to Barb, the leader of our Regulatory & Scientific Affairs Department for the last 14 years,” said CHPA President and CEO Scott Melville. “As someone who has the pleasure of working with Barb on a daily basis, I am in constant awe of her intelligence, her organization, her calmness, her humanity, and her commitment to this industry. She has been at the forefront of every major regulatory issue for the last few decades, and her imprint on CHPA and our entire industry will most certainly endure. It was an honor to recently present Barb with this esteemed award and congratulate her on a well-deserved retirement following her nearly four decades of exceptional service and contributions to consumer healthcare.”

Dr. Kochanowski is the third recipient to receive CHPA’s Regulatory & Scientific Affairs Career Achievement Award since its establishment in 2022. Click here to view the full list of recipients and here for the full 2023 SLS photo gallery.
