ATLANTA — The Coca-Cola Co. board of directors has elected Ceree Eberly and Chris Nolan as new officers.

The beverage giant said Thursday that Eberly, promoted to chief people officer, succeeds Cynthia McCague, who is retiring after 28 years of service with the Coca-Cola system.

Nolan, meanwhile, was named vice president and treasurer, succeeding David Taggart, who stepped down from the role because of health reasons, according to the company.

In the chief people officer spot, Eberly, a 19-year company veteran, has responsibility for leading the global "people function" (formerly human resources). Before that, she served as group human resources director for Europe.

She joined the company in 1990, serving in staffing, compensation and other important roles, supporting business units around the world. She was human resources director for the Latin Center Business Unit and vice president of the McDonald’s division, responsible for customer management, operations, communications and human resources.

Nolan has been with Coca-Cola since 1992, serving in various roles in corporate auditing and treasury, including his last position as manager of financial risk management and corporate finance. He left the Company in 2004 to serve as treasurer of Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Co. in Athens, Greece, and then came back in December 2008 as director of insurance risk management and investments.

Eberly’s election is effective April 1, as she transitions back to the United States, while Nolan’s election is effective immediately, Coca-Cola said.
