To be held June 26-30 in Orlando.

IRVING, Texas — McKesson ideaShare 2019 is the leading conference designed to help independent pharmacy owners and their staff grow their skills and build a stronger business. More than 2,000 independent pharmacies and 5,000 attendees will come together at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando from June 26 – 30, 2019 to make meaningful connections, share expertise and strengthen the future of independent pharmacy. Pharmacists, pharmacy owners and pharmacy technicians have the chance to register until May 24.

“McKesson ideaShare is the opportunity for all of us to unite, learn and grow,” said Nimesh Jhaveri, president, Health Mart. “As a pharmacist, I know the importance of cultivating knowledge, gaining new tools and learning from our peers. And, I most look forward to learning from more than 2,000 of my peers.”

Personalized schedule for success

To focus on what matters most to their pharmacy, attendees can create a personalized schedule for the conference. Registered attendees can see recommendations based on their goals for continuing education courses, workshops, meet-ups and one-on-one appointments through the My Schedule Builder tool, available now. Attendees will also have access to their schedule on the Event4Me 2019 app launching in June.

Highlighted educational sessions

According to Chandni Patel of Injoy Health Mart Pharmacy in Chino Hills, Calif., “I was very impressed at the overall set up and interactions that were provided at McKesson ideaShare. I was able to take learnings back to the pharmacy and apply them to our daily tasks. The experience also gave me a new perspective on how to improve our financial forecast.”

With more than 40 continuing education courses, including sessions on diabetes, immunizations and prescriber partnerships and more than 80 meet-ups and workshops with hands-on demonstrations, pharmacy owners and staff can develop new strategies that work for their independent practices. Top session topics include:

  • Immunizations: Offering year-round immunization services provides patients with prevention and pharmacies with new revenue streams. Learn more about the new 2019 Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommendations.
  • Diabetes care management: Transform your clinical expertise into a revenue generator by becoming a diabetes destination. Learn more about your role in prevention, screening, education and more.
  • Point-of-care testing: Offering point-of-care testing services can provide patients with a convenient way to get needed treatment for acute illnesses and provide pharmacies with new revenue streams. Learn options for implementing these services in your pharmacy as a telehealth option or under a collaborative practice agreement.
  • USP <800>: The new USP <800> chapter goes into effect December 2019. Break through the complexities and learn how the hazardous drug requirements will affect every pharmacy.

Attendees will also have the chance to schedule one-on-one demonstrations of the latest pharmacy technology and solutions or explore the newest products from more than 170 exhibitors.

Connections that matter

Key networking events include the third annual Women in Pharmacy – Own It event and the Those D*MN DIR Fees! session, an interactive public policy discussion surrounding elusive DIR (direct and indirect remuneration) fees, their impact and what pharmacies can do to combat them.

When attendees head back to their pharmacies, they will have a clear plan on how to manage their businesses, gain access to the right networks, bring patients to their stores and expand services for more revenue.
