WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Caremark Corp. has promoted Lisa Bisaccia to senior vice president and chief human resources officer.

The drug store chain and pharmacy benefits manager said Friday that Bisaccia, currently vice president of human resources at the company, will begin her new role on January 1. She will replace Mike Ferdinandi, who has announced his retirement.

Bisaccia has more than 30 years of human resources experience, according to CVS Caremark. Joining the company in 2004, she has led major human resources initiatives, including enhancing compensation practices, restructuring human resources processing functions and managing all human resources support for the retail business.

Before coming to CVS Caremark, Bisaccia held a senior human resources position at FleetBoston Financial as the head of compensation and benefits. Her earlier experience includes human resources consulting in the banking, health care and nonprofit business segments.

"I am delighted that Lisa will be able to apply the expertise she has gained through her years across our corporate enterprise to her new role as our chief human resources officer," Tom Ryan, CVS Caremark chairman and chief executive officer, said in a statement. "Lisa will bring tremendous leadership to our growing organization of more than 200,000 CVS Caremark colleagues. Not only does she have a talent for inspiring, she also has an exceptional ability to align human resources and operations to deliver positive business results."

Ferdinandi has served in various senior human resources positions at CVS Caremark for more than 10 years. Upon his retirement, he plans to remain actively engaged in the human resources and business community through corporate board directorship roles, the company said.
