WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Pharmacy is now offering prescription delivery within hours at the majority of its stores in addition to one- to two-day delivery.

The new service, from Shipt, is available at 6,000 CVS locations across the country, giving patients a faster and even more convenient way to get their medications.

“Today we’ve taken another step forward by expanding same-day delivery nationwide and enhancing the experience with our On-Demand delivery service,” said CVS Pharmacy president Kevin Hourican.

To access the new service, patients simply have to select On-Demand prescription delivery service on the CVS Pharmacy app, through SMS text or by calling their local CVS Pharmacy when a medication has been filled and is ready for pickup. The service charge for delivery is $7.99, and the packages will be delivered by Shipt.

Along with eligible prescriptions, thousands of the most popular health and household items carried by CVS Pharmacy can be added to delivery orders.

Patients who don’t need their medications as quickly, or who are looking for a lower-cost option, can select one- to two- day delivery for a fee of $4.99.
