WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Pharmacy will launch next-day prescription delivery nationwide in early 2018.

As part of the CVS next-day prescription delivery rollout, same-day delivery will be available in selected cities, with the service beginning in New York next month.

“Our goal is to meet the needs of all of our customers wherever, however and whenever they want,” said CVS Pharmacy president Helena Foulkes. “Providing same and next-day options for delivery of medications is just another way we can help our patients get and stay healthy.”

The chain will offer free, same-day delivery service within hours from all locations in Manhattan beginning on December 4. Prescriptions and a curated selection of over-the-counter products will be delivered in secure tamper-proof packaging directly to customers’ doors to assure complete privacy.

“People living and working in Manhattan have busy lives, and there are days when they don’t even have time to run down the street to their pharmacy to pick up a prescription,” said Foulkes. “Same-day prescription delivery gives customers the easy option of having the pharmacy they trust deliver right to their front door at no cost.”

Same-day delivery will expand to Miami; Boston; Philadelphia; Washington, D.C.; and San Francisco in early 2018.

CVS also continues to expand its partnership with Instacart to offer personal shopping at 2,600 stores across the country for delivery of front-store products, including healthy food, beauty items and over-the-counter items, with plans to expand the service to reach 50% of U.S. households by year-end. CVS Curbside, which allows customers to shop online or via the CVS app for pickup in the store in an hour, without ever leaving their car, is active from coast to coast.
