ARLINGTON, Va. – The National Association of Chain Drug Stores announced today that senior vice president, Health Policy and general counsel Don Bell is retiring from NACDS. For 22 years, Don has advanced the interests of NACDS members in all branches and all levels of government. Don has served as a strong legal advocate for chain pharmacies and NACDS, and last year Don was promoted to lead the NACDS Health Policy team as it builds consensus on legislative and regulatory positions to help chain pharmacies better serve the needs of their patients.

“For more than two decades it has been my honor to represent NACDS members as they provide life-saving medications and healthcare services to their patients,” said Don. “I retire from NACDS confident in the knowledge that the association is well positioned to continue advocating for chain pharmacies. I want to thank Steve Anderson for his leadership during these turbulent times, and for the opportunities he gave me at NACDS.”

NACDS President and CEO Steve Anderson said “Don has played an important role in advancing the interests of NACDS members, and we appreciate his substantial service to NACDS and the industry. Don has been an aggressive legal advocate for chain pharmacies, and his consensus-driven approach to industry policy helped keep chain pharmacies united and moving forward during turbulent times. The NACDS Legal and Policy teams will continue their mission to promote NACDS members as the face of neighborhood healthcare.”

Throughout his career at NACDS, Don has worked with chain pharmacies to formulate and advance legal and public policy positions on a wide array of issues. Earlier this year Don played a crucial role in achieving nationwide authority for pharmacists to administer COVID-19 tests, COVID-19 vaccines, and childhood vaccines. The litigation he has led at NACDS has saved pharmacies billions of dollars. Don came to NACDS after working with Proskauer LLP, a large New York-based law firm where he practiced health care litigation. Don is a graduate of the George Washington University Law School and Northwestern University.
