LOS ANGELES — E-hydrate, the maker of Protein On-the-Go natural hydration energy drink mixes, has landed retail distribution with Walgreens.

e-hydrate-walgreens-adThe company said that Walgreens has added E-hydrate’s two flagship SKUs — Protein On-the-Go Premium in chocolate and vanilla flavors — in top locations across the country.

Protein On-the-Go’s patent-pending pouch becomes a bottle when users add water, allowing them to get a low-sugar, natural nutrition shake anywhere. Each Protein On-the-Go Premium provides 25g of protein and enhanced electrolytes for hydration, energy and recovery. The gluten-free drink has just 150 calories and 4g of sugar.

“Customers are now actively on the lookout for healthier choices when they’re on-the-go,” stated Jim Kayser, chief sales officer at E-hydrate. “Walgreens is right in line with our philosophy, and we’re excited about the new focus on healthy food choices at Walgreens.”

E-hydrate said it’s scheduled to run national promotions with Walgreens, including an upcoming BOGO deal for the month of January. The company also plans other marketing initiatives to drive awareness as Protein On-the-Go builds national distribution.

With a growing footprint at traditional grocery retailers, E-hydrate said it has recently begun expanding distribution at drug stores and convenience stores. The company has signed C-store deals with Kum & Go, TA TravelCenters and APlus at Sunoco.

“There is a surging demand in these channels for natural protein snacks. It makes sense for us, and I think it’s a perfect fit,” Kayser added.

E-hydrate’s natural protein line is currently available at major high-end retailers, including GNC and Gelson’s.
