Energizer expands portable power roster, unveils home lighting

ST. LOUIS — Energizer Holdings Inc. has expanded its lineup of products aimed at keeping consumers’ portable devices powered up and has added a home lighting line to its portfolio.

Energizer on Monday unveiled a new line of Energizer Universal USB Chargers and Cables and the addition of the Energizer Single Zone Inductive Charger to the suite of Qi-enabled products launched last year.

The Energizer Universal USB Wall and Car Chargers are designed to provide convenient charging of one or more devices from any standard wall outlet or from a vehicle’s DC outlet. They’re compact — the wall charger has a fold-down plug and is designed so that it will not block the second outlet — and they’re affordable enough to place in multiple locations. Each is available at two power levels: one for devices up to 5 watts (such smartphones, MP3 players and other 5-watt devices) and one for the 10-watt power needs of the iPad.

The Energizer USB Chargers work with the USB cables that come with devices, but Energizer is also offering full range of charging cables, which are sold separately.

Energizer — which noted that it was the first supplier to bring a full suite of Qi-certified products to market for the convenient, cord-free charging of the growing number of devices that support that technology — has added two new versions of the Energizer Inductive Charger, as well as a Qi sleeve for the iPhone 4.

The Energizer Single Zone Inductive Charger, a smaller version of the original that made its debut last fall, features a slim-line, rectangular design with one charging area that can power any Qi-compatible device up to 5 watts.

For those with more space, or more devices, the dual-zone Energizer Inductive Charger has two large charging zones that don’t require locking the device into a precise position, along with a USB port to charge a third device.

"We know consumers rely on devices like smart phones and tablets in a variety of different places and for different reasons, so we’re delivering a range of options that suit different devices, lifestyles and needs," commented Michelle Atkinson, vice president of marketing for North America at Energizer.

Energizer last week announced that it has entered a new product segment with the debut of two household lighting lines.

The Glas Collection includes flameless candles, a task light, an under-cabinet light and motion-activated path light. The Edge Collection, designed for style-conscious consumers, also includes flameless candles plus accent lights.

"We listened to what consumers want in light and combined that with technology they don’t know is even possible to create products that exceed their expectations," stated Anne Bannister, general manager of strategic ventures at Energizer.
