TAMPA, Fla. — Oragenics Inc. plans to roll out its EvoraPlus oral care probiotic mint in Walgreens stores nationwide next month.

The biopharmaceutical company said Monday that EvoraPlus is scheduled to become available in Walgreens’ 7,000-plus drug stores starting March 19. The store rollout follows the successful launch of the oral care product on walgreens.com, according to Oragenics.

Whereas probiotics have traditionally been used to support digestive and immune health, EvoraPlus is specifically designed for complete oral care, Oragenics noted. The company said EvoraPlus — which it calls the first 100% natural, all-in-one oral care probiotic mint — gently whitens teeth and alleviates bad breath while supporting gum and tooth health.

"We are extremely delighted to join with Walgreens to bring EvoraPlus to the public," Gerry David, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Tampa-based Oragenics, said in a statement. "One of the country’s most outstanding retailers, Walgreens is dedicated to providing its customers with the highest-quality products. We are proud to forge our alliance with this extraordinary company and look forward to a long and successful association."

Developed by Dr. Jeffrey Hillman, D.M.D., Ph.D., and chief scientific officer at Oragenics, EvoraPlus is based on more than 25 years of research. Through his research, Dr. Hillman found three strains of beneficial bacteria that help maintain an optimal balance of beneficial bacteria in the mouth, naming the patent-pending blend ProBiora3, the active ingredient in EvoraPlus. The product is made in the United States and in an FDA-registered and GMP-certified facility, the company said.
