Former Coty exec Cullin joins Shiseido

NEW YORK — Former Coty executive Kathy Cullin has been hired as general manager of Bare Escentuals US at global cosmetics company Shiseido Americas Corp.

In the newly created role, Cullin serves as a member of Bare Escentuals’ senior leadership team and oversees the commercial business and customer experience of the bareMinerals and Buxom Beauty brands in the United States.

She also is responsible for multichannel, direct-to-consumer strategies, including bareMinerals retail boutiques and bare + beauty outlets nationwide, as well as for managing key relationships with department stores and wholesale vendors.

Cullin reports to Marc Rey, president and chief executive officer of Shiseido Americas.

“Kathy’s outstanding reputation within the beauty industry is backed by a record of proven leadership,” Rey stated. “She is a practiced sales executive and manager. Her keen insight, strategic approach and extensive professional history will help bring the Bare Escentuals business to greater heights of success. Shiseido noted that Cullin is a sales, marketing and product development veteran in the cosmetics industry with experience spanning several prestige and mass brands and multiple distribution channels.

Most recently, she was senior vice president of prestige fragrances and philosophy for Coty’s Americas business, responsible for all aspects of sales and education across multiple channels, such as retail, e-commerce, QVC and military. Before joining Coty, she served for six years at L’Oréal’s Matrix division, most recently as senior vice president of strategic initiatives. She also has led sales and marketing initiatives at Clarins USA, Symrise, Puig Beauty USA and Calvin Klein Cosmetics/Unilever and served on the boards of Cosmetic Executive Women and The Fragrance Foundation.
