NEW YORK — Later this month, Walgreens drug stores in the Philadelphia area are slated to begin carrying Wings of Nature snack bars from Fresh Harvest Products Inc.

Fresh Harvest said Thursday that plans call for the snack bars to be available in about 90 Walgreens stores in the Philadelphia region. The product is slated to be displayed in the front of the stores at checkout.

In January, Fresh Harvest announced that 205 Walgreens stores in the Orlando, Fla., area began selling the Wings of Nature bars. And in April the supplier reported that sales of the snack bars at Walgreens have been brisk and that reorders had been submitted several times to restock the shelves.

"This is a great opportunity to expand throughout Walgreens and to increase our retail locations as well as our distribution area," commented Michael Friedman, chief executive officer of New York-based Fresh Harvest. "We are actively working toward a marketing program targeted to customers to increase our overall sales and distribution. We are extremely focused on building loyal customers as we continue to demonstrate that our strategy is working."

Other drug chains carrying the Wings of Nature bars include CVS/pharmacy and Navarro Discount Pharmacies.

Fresh Harvest offers a line of organic snack products and beverages, including health bars, coffee bars and salsa under the Wings of Nature brand and beverages under the TeAloe name. The company also offers frozen pizza under the AC LaRocco brand and has a grocery product line of whole bean and ground coffees as well as beverages.
