MODESTO, Calif. – E. & J. Gallo Winery (Gallo) is once again partnering with innovative winemaker Dave Phinney to become the exclusive importer for Department 66 wines in the U.S.

Department 66 has its home in the south of France, in the town of Maury, two hours north of Barcelona, Spain. Named after the “department” or administrative division in which the winery lies, the project began with a 40-acre vineyard purchase, and today includes more than 300 acres of vineyards among the Pyrénées-Orientales mountain range. The vineyards consist of thriving old vine Grenache, Syrah, Carignan and Mourvedre. With Dave’s passion for the region he began construction on his winery in 2009 to ensure he could produce the highest quality wines from this amazing collection of vineyards.

“We are excited to expand our relationship with Dave Phinney, who has a history of creating bold and memorable brands,” said Roger Nabedian, senior vice president and general manager of Gallo’s Premium Wine Division. He added, “Gallo remains strongly committed to competing in the luxury wine segment, and Department 66 represents an exciting addition to our luxury portfolio.”

“Gallo is a tremendous partner and I am looking forward to expanding the availability of Department 66 wines in the U.S.,” said founder Dave Phinney. He added, “Department 66 is truly a passion project for me and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be working with Gallo once again.”

Department 66 is the latest addition to a growing Gallo portfolio of premium and luxury wines from around the world. The Department 66 portfolio that Gallo will distribute includes: D66, Others, Fragile, Façade and Pharaon. The wines retail between $18 and $175.
