Genexa named top innovative company in wellness for 2022 by Fast Company

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

ATLANTA, Ga. – Genexa has been named to Fast Company’s prestigious annual list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies for 2022. Genexa makes over-the-counter (O-T-C) medicines with the same active ingredients as category leaders but without any of the unnecessary artificial ingredients – including artificial preservatives, dyes, and sweeteners – plus contains no common allergens. These innovations have led to a seminal development in the consumer pharmaceutical industry by disrupting the way O-T-C medicines are made, finally offering consumers a real choice.

This year’s list honors businesses that are making the biggest impact on their industries and culture as a whole – ultimately thriving in today’s ever-changing world. These companies are creating the future today with some of the most inspiring accomplishments of the 21st century. In addition to the World’s 50 Most Innovative Companies, 528 organizations are recognized across 52 categories.

“To be recognized by Fast Company for our innovations in the health and wellness category is a true honor and extremely validating, following many years of hard work, research and development, and perseverance,” remarked Genexa cofounder David Johnson. “Despite several roadblocks by those within the pharmaceutical industry who time and again told us that making medicine with only clean ingredients could not be done, we persevered. We created this company because we believe in putting ‘People Over Everything’ and for us that means making clean medicine not only for our children but for everyone.”

In the past 18 months, Genexa has expanded into 45,000 retailers nationwide including Walmart, CVS, Whole Foods, Rite Aid, Walgreens, Target and Kroger as well as retailing online at Genexa.com and Amazon. Genexa’s medicines span all traditional categories of O-T-C treatment including cold and flu, analgesics, digestion and allergy for infants, kids and adults.

Thanks to the patented preservative system that the company has developed, Genexa is making medicine with the same active ingredients as the category leaders but without any artificial inactive ingredients for the first time ever. To deliver on their promise of a new standard for clean and effective medicines, Genexa has published their Ex List, a list of unnecessary inactive ingredients the company vows to never use in their medicine, including artificial dyes, talc, sorbitol, high fructose corn syrup, propylene glycol, titanium dioxide, and common allergens like gluten and lactose.

In 2021, Genexa closed a highly oversubscribed Series A, which was the largest Series A ever for a consumer pharmaceutical company. It included some of the most well-regarded institutional investors and a host of A-list celebrities, known for their wellness advocacy. In 2022 Genexa is set to launch several kids and adult SKUs which will provide the first clean medicine alternatives in top categories such as analgesics, cold and flu, and more.

Fast Company’s editors and writers sought out the most groundbreaking businesses across the globe and industries. They also judged nominations received through their application process.

The World’s Most Innovative Companies is Fast Company’s signature franchise and one of its most highly anticipated editorial efforts of the year. It provides both a snapshot and a road map for the future of innovation across the most dynamic sectors of the economy.

“The world’s most innovative companies play an essential role in addressing the most pressing issues facing society, whether they’re fighting climate change by spurring decarbonization efforts, ameliorating the strain on supply chains, or helping us reconnect with one another over shared passions,” said Fast Company deputy editor David Lidsky.

For the second year in a row, to coincide with the issue launch, Fast Company will host its Most Innovative Companies Summit on April 26–27. The virtual, multiday summit celebrates the Most Innovative Companies in business, and provides an early look at major business trends and an inside look at what it takes to innovate in 2022. Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies issue (March/April 2022) is available online here, as well as in-app form via iTunes, and on newsstands beginning March 15. The hashtag is #FCMostInnovative.
