BOSTON — This summer, Gillette plans to roll out its new Fusion ProGlide shaving system and Fusion ProSeries male skin care products, both of which are designed to provide advanced performance.

The Procter & Gamble brand said Friday that Fusion ProGlide and Fusion ProSeries are slated to become available in retail stores and online outlets in North America starting in June, with global expansion in the next 12 to 18 months.

Building on the advances made with the Gillette Fusion shaving system, Fusion ProGlide incorporates a series of unique technologies that address critical areas for a better shave and deliver improved comfort and performance, according to Gillette.

Fusion ProGlide features re-engineered, low cutting force blades with 15% thinner, finer edges and an advanced, low-resistance coating designed to allow the blades to cut through hair with less tug and pull, the company said. A blade stabilizer maintains optimal blade spacing for comfort and enables the blades to adjust to facial contours, while a streamlined Snowplow Comfort Guard channels excess shave prep to promote optimal blade contact.

In addition, the Lubrastrip is 25% larger and infused with mineral oil and lubricating polymers, enabling the razor to move smoothly over skin, while an improved precision trimmer includes an enhanced blade, a comb guard to better align long hairs, and new rinse-through slots. A redesigned handle sports bigger, more ergonomic grips for better control, and an innovative microcomb helps guide hair to the blade.

Meanwhile, the Fusion ProSeries skin care products aim to provide superior comfort before, during and after shaving, according to Gillette, which noted that the line features the first mass-market men’s thermal facial scrub.

Fusion ProSeries encompasses four products. The Fusion ProSeries Thermal Scrub warms, deep cleans and helps soften facial hair before shaving. Gillette said the formula employs heating technology that’s activated on contact with water to provide warming comfort, and a mild soap-free system cleans skin by removing oil and dirt while helping to soften the hair. Small particles then help exfoliate dead, dry skin cells, providing an even, clear path for the razor.

The Fusion ProSeries Sensitive Face Wash is designed for sensitive skin and uses a mild soap-free system with aloe vera to effectively clean without overdrying, while the Fusion ProSeries Intense Cooling Lotion is intended to instantly cool and hydrate just-shaved skin for extra comfort. And finally, the Fusion ProSeries Instant Hydration UV Moisturizer +SPF15 is a nongreasy formula with vitamin E and SPF 15 UV protection that immediately restores moisture and provides all-day hydration to help reduce dryness and tightness, the company said.

"Beyond superior technology, Gillette Fusion ProGlide and Gillette Fusion ProSeries bring real solutions to men’s No. 1 skin care need and continue our century-long track record of delivering trusted performance that helps men look, feel and be their best," Chip Bergh, group president of global male grooming for P&G, said in a statement.
