Walgreen Co. said Friday it has hired Jason Dubinsky as division vice president and treasurer.

Plans call for Dubinsky to start at Walgreens on August 24. He comes to the chain from The Goldman Sachs Group Inc., where he served as vice president of investment banking in the division’s consumer retail group. He replaces John Spina, who was promoted last month to corporate vice president of retail integration and new format development.

DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreen Co. said Friday it has hired Jason Dubinsky as division vice president and treasurer.

Plans call for Dubinsky, 36, to start at Walgreens on August 24. He comes to the drug store chain from The Goldman Sachs Group Inc. in Chicago, where he served as vice president of investment banking in the division’s consumer retail group.

Dubinsky replaces John Spina, who was promoted last month to Walgreens corporate vice president of retail integration and new format development. Spina, 50, had served as vice president and treasurer since 2007.

At Walgreens, Dubinsky will oversee all financing, banking and investing activities. He also will be responsible for corporate risk management and partnering on investor relations matters, the company said.

Dubinsky has more than 12 years of finance, accounting and investment experience. He spent the last three years at Goldman Sachs, where he led merger and acquisition transactions and managed strategic advisory and financing assignments for corporate clients in the retail and consumer sectors.

Previously, Dubinsky was vice president of investment banking at Lehman Brothers and was with the firm from 2000 to 2006. Before that, he held a senior accountant position at Arthur Andersen in New York.

"Jason also brings a strong background in retail, top-notch strategic thinking and creative skills, and a great spirit of collaboration."
